Jerome

Jerome, Arizona

Formerly the site of one of the richest copper mines in Arizona. The population, at one point exceeded 10,000 (in the 1920s), then fell to under 100 when mining stopped in the early to mid 1950s. Today it is a tourist town with artists, galleries, shops, and restaurants. The Haunted Hamburger and Asylum restaurants are great, as are the Mining Museum and the Gold King Mine.
